While digging into website builders, I noticed something about Squarespace. It's huge, with about 3 million sites, but most of its templates seemed to cater more to a female audience. Realizing that nearly half of Squarespace users are male, I saw a gap. There was room for more modern, sleek, and neutral templates for those who wanted them.
I started this project by myself. It's now my main side project and is actively being developed.
Designing for Squarespace isn't easy. The platform has its limits, making it tough to create sites that don’t look like typical Squarespace ones. Also, I found that most Squarespace users aren't tech-savvy. They need clear, simple instructions to manage their websites.
The design is centered around two key principles:
Easy: Ensuring that the websites are straightforward to edit while maintaining a high level of customization.
Impactful: While aesthetic appeal is a priority, it's equally important to adhere to industry best practices in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) to create websites that are not only visually appealing but also functionally beneficial for businesses.
The primary channel for user acquisition is SEO. Significant efforts have been invested in user, competitor, and keyword research to optimize for search engine visibility.
The store, SEO-optimized and hosted on an aged domain from a related niche, is poised to start attracting its first visitors soon.
